If you read my blog regularly you’ll know I don’t like commenting on topical subjects and I choose to not do so because you may as well just follow these links to GQ, Vogue, Elle, Hunger etc. as they are far more insightful, have better images, and the backing of the entire fashion pack and all their plus ones. However, when I heard the news that the designer that made me fall hard for fashion was leaving legendary fashion house Dior my silence was broken.
|Not that anyone cares|
Raf Simons has left a legacy at Dior like no other designer that came before him, besides Christian Dior himself, and for that he will be truly missed. His collections breathed the air of Dior back in to the house whilst giving modern, fresh, and innovative designs to followers of the house. I’m still shocked at how perfect the first collection was from his stunning pant suits to his art direction, the flower wall was a stroke of genius, I’ve selected a few of my favourite looks from that collection below. It was actually that collection that confirmed, for me, that Raf was a true fashion genius, irregardless of his interior design/architecture background and his previous work at Jil Sander. It was that collection that made me stand up in my room in Epsom, Surrey, England whilst the show was being live stream to my laptop from Paris, France, and clap as if I was in attendance to the most talked about show of the decade. I won’t talk about how great Dior & I was because I don’t have all day to write this post.
|If you’ve not seen the show then feel free to not speak to me until you do|
I’m now in a state of mourning with so many questions unanswered.
Why did he leave?
Where will he go next or will he just stick to his own labels, Raf Simons and Raf by Raf Simons?
Should I send him flowers?
Will he care if I send him flowers?
I’m sure all will be explained in the near future but you’ll have to follow one of the major publications for more news on this topic as I find it too hard to speak on the subject. Let’s all hope I make it through this hard time and if I don’t please keep voting for me as best men’s fashion blog by Blogging Edge.
